Mediocre Love

Have you ever heard a love story? Or lived one? 

Even if you haven't, you must have seen a movie which portrays, at least some part of love in it. 

What does it feel like? It feels like roses but also like thorns, it feels like happiness but it can also feel like heartache, it feels like the wind but it can also give you chills. The point is, it definitely feels like something, something different than usual. 

But what happens when life comes in the way of love? 

When a love story starts, people discover each other, they find various feelings that they never felt, they imagine better lives, they become better versions of themselves. The process of discovering, accepting and cherishing the newly found person, is called falling in love (in my opinion). 

Then comes a point where you are either torn apart or you get closer, this is the stage where you actually begin living a life with them. Every person experiences something different through love and this story goes on. 

Then comes life, the reality of the world we live in, societal norms, restrictions, traumas, problems in day-to-day life, various stressors, just life. Day in and day out, you're either fighting with something or struggling within yourself, but love is still there. 

With time, this love takes a backseat, other things come to the forefront, like making a career, sustaining life, doing something or the other, but because you already have love. It's no longer a thing to run after. 

Now two things about this situation: 

1• Because you have love, the person is there to hold you during tough times and laugh with you in the good ones.

2• Because you have love, you don't seek it anymore, you don't take that extra step just to be sure that you're holding it fine. You don't feel like falling in love anymore. 

Now, this is not good or bad. These are two sides, of the same coin. So, while you're thinking about it, let me tell you what I actually wanted to say all this while... 

There are too many things mediocre things in life to deal with, but love... 

Love shouldn't be one of them!

We cannot change the direction of the wind, but we can adjust our sails to always reach the destination.. Take chances, a lot of them, because where you end up and who you are, things will always end up the way they should. Your mistakes make you who you are, you learn and grow with each choice you make. Pretending to care, because it's trending to care!

We’re in the middle of a pandemic, but instead of having a sense of empathy and kindness, we’re becoming more impatient and intolerant. We see people on social media fighting battles against anxiety, depression, and other mental illnesses, we support them online, we post stories and add hashtags so people feel better. We reassure our friends to ask for help when needed, we become better with our words but what happens when it comes to life offline, the real-life with real people? In real life, we’re still people who judge, who assume circumstances and situations instead of considering the actual wars people are fighting. We’re still people who put our convenience over anything, and sometimes we do it without realizing it.  The world needs care, now more than ever. We need reassurance and validation from our loved ones, that everything will be alright and that they will have patience with us until then.
